When you install your own alarm system, you are also not bound to a long term contract with a specific company. So if you find a better offer, you can just change company. Normally it will also be cheaper, if you have your own alarm.

Make sure you have done the installation correctly, before turning the alarm on. If something has been installed wrongly, there might be a false alarm. And the false alarm fines are normally very steep, so the money saved by installing it yourself will be wasted. So check the installation guide carefully, before you turn the system on.

An easier way to install an alarm system is by choosing a wireless alarm. They wireless version does not need wires to all the windows, doors etc. You just have to plug the alarm in the socket and it is working.

So if you do not have ten thumbs, you should install your burglar alarm yourself. Then you will both have the freedom to choose company and save a lot of money.
