When you buy the easy to use TASER C2 you want to become familiar with it so you get the most effective use from it. Remember we all learned that when we buy something new we should read the owner manual. Make sure you do that with the C2. One of the nicest features of the TASER C2 is that it arrives with a training DVD. Take the short time needed to watch the training video. It is very well done. By taking a little bit of time when your C2 arrives and utilizing all the training information you will be able to use the TASER C2 most effectively.

The Lithium Battery Cartridge that powers the unit has enough stored power to last for about 50 firings of the unit. A word of caution here, do not put the magazine cartridge into the C2 before the Power Cartridge. Put the battery cartridge in first and then put the magazine cartridge in. After you have inserted the battery cartridge a green light will light up to let you know the TASER C2 is operational.

Now we are ready to load the magazine cartridge. Very easy to do but with a few words of caution. Just like a gun, never point the business end of a TASER C2 at anyone unless you are going to use it. Second, also like a gun, make sure the safety is on. You do this by sliding the switch cover closed. After you obeyed those two things simply open up the magazine cover and install the cartridge. When you have pushed it in far enough you will hear an audible “click”. That is your notice that you have installed it correctly. A nice feature about the design of the personal protection product is that the magazine cannot be installed incorrectly. That is nice to know especially if you are in a high stress situation.

When you hold the unit you hold it as you would a handgun, vertically. There is a safety switch cover that you open to expose the firing button. Do not fire at an attacker that is more then 15 feet away. That is the maximum range of the C2. All TASER C2 models, except one, have a laser-aiming device. When aiming at a target keep in mind that where ever you see the laser, that is where the top probe will approximately land. If your safety permits, try to avoid aiming at the face, neck, head or groin area.

The optimum shot from the TASER C2 is from seven to ten feet away from the attacker to achieve maximum effect. If you shoot your attacker from about 7 feet away this will result in a probe spread of about 1 foot. Try to aim for the trunk of the body. Always try to have at least a 4-inch spread of the probes. At seven to ten feet away - the spread of the probes will be approximately 16 inches.

Practice, practice, practice. Targets are available so that you can practice using the device. Never practice on someone as the TASER shoots two small barbs that will penetrate clothing and skin and deliver the volts and wattage to the body. Practice in an empty room and make sure no one can come in unexpectedly.

Again, the TASER C2 is so well designed it is actually two personal protection products in one. One the TASER function, and two, a stun gun feature. If you have fired at an assailant and missed and do not have another magazine handy, you can apply the two electrodes at the end of the device directly to the attackers exposed skin, deliver a shock, and get away to safety.

When you have used your personal protection weapon and made contact with your assailant, don’t stand around watching them squirm and drool. Get out of there. Shoot the TASER C2, watch your attacker go down and then get out of there. Don’t worry about getting your unit back. TASER International, the manufacturer, will gladly replace your C2 as long as you send them a copy of the police report about the attack.
