An access control system can help protect restricted areas from trespassers. It is designed to provide high security protocol in private and commercial premises. It also authorizes access to approved personnel. An access control system can also record the time of employee entrance. It shields or secures people, important documents or equipment in a facility. Access control systems are extremely functional within buildings that have multiple entry spots. Different kinds of security mechanisms are used for this.

Increasing security and enhancing the control over who enters the property is the main feature of this access control systems. Some times this systems are also used as an advanced employee management tool

For both commercial and residential facilities, functional versatilities are integral parts of Access Control Systems. An access control system can be truly useful for facilities with multiple entry points. Access Control Systems can come on different hardware platforms. Here are some common ones-

Control panels - Control panels are used with many access control systems. You interact with numeral keys or buttons here. But modern systems also have touch screens as interactive interfaces. Such arrangements are directly tied up with the locking or releasing system. If you know the right pin codes, all you have to do is enter them and the lock will open after verification of your entries.

Magstripe Readers - Magstripe Readers are used extensively with access control systems. They are also renowned as Swipe Card readers. Their usage is simple yet efficient. For instance, a company can issue encoded cards to its employees.

Proximity Readers - Very close to these are Long Range readers. Both Proximity Readers along with Long Range Readers can be used with access control structures. These devices use sensors for detecting encoded cards which has no swiping at all. Proximity Readers have the capacity for detecting cards from a short distance (usually around 100mm).

Biometric Readers - Some access control platforms with Biometric devices can simply rock when you wish a hi-tech dependable system for monitoring and controlling access into or out of your premises. Among the range of Biometric devices found in stores, the most common is the Fingerprint Readers. Access control systems driven by Biometric systems may involve voice recognition systems or eye scanning technologies.

ID Methods - these include all of the functions of the access control systems put into use, these can include door bell systems and buzzers, intercom systems that include audio or video (or sometimes both), and CCTV that is used as a monitoring system for advanced access control.
