Ordering an alarm system today sounds a little like ordering a pizza. Sizes, flavors, and toppings in the home security industry have become the norm. The idea of home alarms sounds simple enough. Hook a device up to your home, plug it into a monitoring station, and ward off would-be burglars, right? Not so fast, say most home security companies.

C-mount cameras (or cs mount cameras, as they are sometimes called) were the first security cameras and defined the industry. In’70’s and’80’s, c-mount camera were invented, but they were simply known as security cameras because c-mount security cameras were the single kind available. The iconic boxy cs-mount design was necessary because in the 70’s the circuit boards and other internal items in cameras were still very obtrusive. As technology has improved over time, security cameras were able to get much smaller and the bullet camera shape has begun to define the idea of a security camera.
